Rabbi Michael Eisenstein
Rabbi Michael was born in Brooklyn but grew up in New Hyde Park on Long Island. After attending Nassau Community College and Northeastern University he settled back on LI. He has lived in Baldwin for over 25 years with his wife Lynda and their grown children, Daniel and Molly. They also share their home with Cosmo, Lennon & Nunu.
Rabbi Michael has been involved in many community activities in Baldwin, serving on the PTA, and coaching baseball, basketball and soccer. One of his many accomplishments was serving on the Board of Trustees at the South Baldwin Jewish Center, eventually becoming President. It was there that he did his first Torah reading, re-opening the door that said, “Enrich Your Life Here.” He has brought that feeling and desire to Congregation Beth Israel and we all have enriched our lives as a result of his stewardship of our Congregation.
While working as the Assistant to the Executive Director of Temple Israel of New Rochelle, one of the flagship congregations of the Reform movement in Westchester, Rabbi Michael studied for and eventually received his ordination from Yeshiva Tiferet Yisrael in 2008. During that same year Congregation Beth Israel experienced the passing of their beloved Rabbi Harvey Weil, z”l .
Recommended to the Congregation after Rabbi Weil’s passing, Rabbi Michael has proven to be a dedicated and caring leader with services that have a most interactive and warm feeling. For our Congregation, Rabbi Michael has proven to be a wonderful leader whom you can depend upon during all your life cycle events. Please feel free to join us any Shabbat morning or email our Rabbi directly. We urge you to get to know Rabbi Michael and our Congregation.
